Prayer:holding in mind what we desire but not adding desire to it

"God" is the name which is highly misused just to comfort us while in problems .
Has it ever happened that you went to a temple and prayed for someone else...no;if yes it is only for our near and dear ones from whom we are covertly or overtly benefited. Reason -selfishness.
We moan the loss of only those who are of some help to us.Have we ever cried for the victims of Bihar flood or China earthquake.????
Do we ever long or pray for good marks for our class mates???
Do we ever rejoice if our colleague gets promotion???May be we do but only till the treat is pending.
Ask anyone -"why do you love your parents"???
Obvious answer-"because they are very caring".
Hidden meaning-we love them only because our very existence is because of them.
Does not this reflect selfishness????
When we are no more dependent on our parents ,then the above question changes to "why do you hate your parents"?
ans-"coz they are a big liability".
Similarly praying to god is no devotion but vocation to keep the doors for our success open.
When in a place of worship we follow all the norms and traditions(removing shoes outside, putting a cloth on our head) ,we try to portray us in best manner we can.But come outside we become complement of what we were in---back bitching, jeering, mocking, teasing.
Sometimes we do good to others only because of fear (paap chedega).it is not because we feel for them.
Jihad in the name of god.
Christian killing in the name of god.
Felling Babri masjid in the name of god.
I wish there is no God otherwise tomorrow may be Hindu God will be killed in the name of Muslim god and muslim god in the name of Christian god...
and if there is no god who will take care of us.
(find selfishness in the last line).

I liked the title : Prayer...

BTW, always separate your paragraphs properly. It makes you look coherent - which of course you are :)

Write more soon :)

Hi, well I don't completely agree with with the part where u've mentioned abt people loving their parents only as long as they r dependent on them. There may be people like these, but we can't generalise them as US. Otherwise it's a nice, thought provoking post...
